On the 17th sept 2021, The Parliament of Uganda hosted the 4th National Youth Parliament under the theme “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health,”
The National Youth Parliament is an important political and legislative space and creative advocacy vehicle that brings together the National Youth Council (NYC), the Uganda National Students Association – UNSA, an activist network, You Lead Network, Platform for Youth Inclusion in Politics and young people from civil society organizations, the private sector and cultural institutions among others.
The Team leader of Touch the Heart Uganda was among the delegation that represented the youth in civil society
Patent matters were discussed on the follow of Parliament including how government needs to address with urgency SRHR challenges faced by youth like teenage pregnancies and HIV.
Which need to be adressed through implementing youth policy, opening up schools, increased funding and support of youth spaces.
Youth also deliberated on the increased poverty, unemployment and hungry, hence calling for tax holidays on youth ventures, investigating the failure of youth livelihood programs and governments increased investment of the youth programs and activities in the new perish model.
The clerk to the Parliament of Uganda, youth MPs and Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanya vowed to pace a way of tabling the resolutions to the follow of the Parliament of Uganda.
